A WhatsApp chat button for your website, in your own colours
Your website already has visitors with questions. A small button that opens a WhatsApp chat with you, message typed in, turns a few of them into conversations. No script, no plugin, and every click counted.
Someone is on your website at ten at night, reading your prices. They have one question. Your contact page offers an email address and a form with eight fields. They close the tab.
A WhatsApp chat button gives that person a shorter path: one tap, WhatsApp opens with a message to you already typed, and they press Send. Every smart link can now make one for you, designed to match your site, ready to paste.
- NewA website chat button on every smart link's Share tab
- NewYour own button text, seven icons to pick from, or none
- NewThree ready-made looks, or your own background and text colours
- NewA live preview on a light page and a dark page, exactly as it will be pasted
- NewA note when your colours are too close to read easily
Where to find it
Open a smart link and go to its Share tab. The Website chat button card sits beside the link and its QR code. Everything you change shows straight away in the preview, and Copy code copies exactly what you see.
Make it yours
The card has three choices and a preview:
The website chat button
- Button textUp to 40 characters. It starts as "Chat with us on WhatsApp", and "Ask us anything" or "Book on WhatsApp" work just as well.
- Button coloursWhatsApp green, Dark or Light, or Your own colours for the background and for the text and icon. Type a colour code, pick from quick swatches or use your system's colour picker.
- Button iconWhatsApp, Chat bubble, Message, Conversation, Phone, Send or Support, or no icon at all. The icon takes the text colour, so it always matches.
- PreviewSee the button on a Light page or a Dark page, so you know it works on both before it goes up.
When you pick Your own colours, they start from the look you had, so you're only ever one change away from something that already works. If the two colours you pick are too close, the card says so: "These two colours are close, so the words may be hard to read." Nobody should need to squint at a button.
Just plain HTML
The code you copy is one link, styled as a rounded button, opening WhatsApp in a new tab. That's all. There's no script, no font to download, no outside file and no tracking of its own, so it won't slow your page down. It uses the visitor's own system font, so it looks at home on any site.
Paste it wherever your site builder lets you add your own HTML, usually a block called HTML, Embed or Custom code. Put it where questions happen: next to your prices, under a product, at the end of a blog post or on the contact page.
Every click is counted
The button opens the smart link, so a click on it counts as a link click on that link's Analytics tab, like any other. When the visitor sends the message, it lands in your shared inbox and counts as a chat started from the link. If the link sends a Flow, a template or details from a table, the button gets that too.
And because the button points at the smart link, never straight at WhatsApp, you can change the link's message or what it sends later without touching your website.
Questions people ask
Does the button float in the corner of the page?
No, it sits where you paste it, like any other link or button on the page. Most people put one near the content that raises questions, rather than one that follows the visitor around.
Will it work on my website builder?
If your builder lets you add your own HTML, it should. The code is a single link with no script, which is the simplest thing a builder can be asked to show.
Can I change the colours after it's on my site?
Change them on the Share tab, press Copy code again and paste the new code over the old one. The link inside stays the same.
Does it work on phones and computers?
Yes. On a phone, WhatsApp opens straight away. On a computer, WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web opens after a short "Opening WhatsApp" page.
Pick a page of your website where people hesitate, add one button, and look at that link's clicks next week.
